Bio

Maya is a curious and engaged bilingual Polish-American designer who enjoys working at a multitude of scales: from architectural details to streetscapes and transit facilities. During her Master’s she worked as a research fellow for the Sustainable Cities Initiative (SCI), helping start up the Urbanism Next research effort and complete the Sustainable Urban Design Framework. Her passions in sustainable urbanism and transit-oriented planning led to her work as an Urban Designer for several years focusing on active transportation planning projects in Minnesota, Arizona & Utah. Maya is a strong advocate for transit & bicycle infrastructure and is involved with the Street Trust & 350 PDX’s Transportation Justice Group.

Maya brings her knowledge & experience of urban design into working in the field of architecture to co-create sustainable, intentional buildings that create community and positively contribute to our ever-evolving urban environment. As the newest member of the EMA team, Maya is excited to collaborate with clients who seek to create meaningful spaces that are rooted in local materials, identity and culture. Currently, Maya is working on her licensure as a registered architect.
